Rewind 5 years \u2013 it\u2019s 2017. Remember when petrol cost just \u00a31.17 per litre,\u00a0the average house price was roughly \u00a3223,000<\/a>\u00a0and baked beans were just 53p for a 150g tin. Fast forward to today, petrol costs roughly \u00a31.89 per litre,\u00a0the average house price is \u00a3281,161<\/a>\u00a0and baked beans cost 65p for a tin\u2026 Our money is disappearing into thin air!<\/p>\n

It\u2019s been 40 years since UK inflation was this high.\u00a0Office for National Statistics<\/a>\u00a0reported that the annual rate reached 9.4% in June, up from 9.1% in May. Soaring food and fuel prices were largely behind the increase. Unfortunately, the rest of the year isn\u2019t looking promising as the\u00a0inflation forecast is due to peak in October.<\/a><\/p>\n

According to\u00a0Housing Sector Survey 2022<\/a>, the cost of living crisis was voted the second highest challenge for the sector, with concerns about residents\u2019 wellbeing and financial impact on rent arrears being the most important.
